Release Note for KeySoft 7.5 Build 31

New Bookshare Library Access

1- What's new in Bookshare site?

The bookshare.org web site has been updated and redesigned offering a number of benefits and changes, and also a new protected format for downloaded books, newspapers and magazines.

2- Downloading books with .bks2 extension

Books downloaded with bks2 format are unpackaged and recognized like Bookshare books. They will be seen in the folder along with any previously downloaded books.

3- Downloading books with .zip extension

If books were downloaded with the default .zip extension, it will be necessary to use the KeySoft File Manager to unpack the books as they will not appear when browsing via the Book Reader application. The downloaded books may later be renamed to have a .bks2 file extension, or you may wish to change your preferred default file type within your bookshare.org account preferences to be .bks2 instead of .zip.

4- Security process on the new Bookshare site

Tip to avoid security dialog boxes: When entering the Bookshare site for the first time, after typing your user name and password, you can check the Remember Me check box. By doing that, youll only have to go through the security dialog boxes once. Next time you open the Bookshare page, you will be automatically logged on your account without having to pass through security.

5- Book Download and Storage

We recommend downloading and unpacking books on memory cards instead of using the internal memory.

6- Page loading and navigation can be slow.

It is a known issue that browsing the new bookshare.org web site and downloading books can be slower than times experienced using the Legacy Bookshare site. This will be particularly noticeable on the Classic models. BrailleNote mPower and BrailleNote PK being much newer technology do not have this pronounced performance constraint.

Other Corrections

1- Words Added to Spelling Dictionary: For the BrailleNote Classic and PK, version 7.5 Build 27, the issue of words that were added to the Spell Checker not always being retained, and thus appearing as unknown words in subsequent spelling checks, has been corrected.

2- Appointment Scheduling: For the BrailleNote Classic and PK, version 7.5 Build 27, the error associated with scheduling an appointment to a date other than the current day has been fixed. This previously generated an error saying that the entered date needed to be after 1601.

3- Speech Loss PK: The long standing issue causing the random loss of speech on the BrailleNote PK has been identified and corrected.
